We’re Hiring: Farm Hand

The Friends of Ambler Farm, a nonprofit organization located in Wilton, CT, seeks a
part-time, seasonal Farm Hand to support the daily operations of our greenhouse and
fields. Working closely with the Director of Agriculture, this individual will assist with
seeding, watering, transplanting, harvesting, and preparing produce for farm sales. This
position is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, being
outdoors, and contributing to a community-centered farm environment.
This role runs late February through October, with hours ranging from 5–20 hours per
week, from 9am-1pm and increasing as the growing season progresses.
Duties and Responsibilities
Greenhouse + Field Operations
- Assist with seeding, watering, and transplanting in the greenhouse
- Support field preparation, planting, weeding, and harvesting activities
- Help maintain healthy crops through proper watering and care routines
- Assist in preparing and packaging produce for the Wilton Farmers’ Market and
Ambler Farm Stand
- Maintain organization and cleanliness in the greenhouse and work areas
Teamwork + Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Agriculture, seasonal staff, and volunteers
- Support farm projects as needed throughout the growing season
- Follow safety and quality standards in all aspects of farm operations
Skills + Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods of time
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
- Flexible availability in workdays and hours (based on season and weather)
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn — no prior farm experience required.
Pay Rate: Minimum wage
