Marie Donahue

When you’ve lived in Wilton as long as Marie, you’ve witnessed your fair share of change — and Ambler Farm is no exception. Having grown up when the Amblers still called the Farm home, Marie knew Betty Ambler personally and often visited the property, forging connections with the families who lived in the Yellow House.

From the moment the town began considering the purchase of Ambler Farm after Betty’s passing, Marie has been a steadfast advocate. Whether serving on the original steering committee or rolling up her sleeves to help restore the property for public use, she has been there every step of the way.

Even now, more than 20 years since the formation of Friends of Ambler Farm, Marie continues to visit almost daily, walking the fields with her loyal companion, Rowdy, always ready to lend a hand. Whether watering plants, pruning herbs, potting vegetables, or carefully preparing produce for market, Marie’s quiet dedication is ever-present. She never arrives without asking, “What do you need help with today?”— even when her time is limited.

Marie and Rowdy are always a welcome sight at the farm, and their example reminds us that giving even an hour of our time can make a difference.

As we celebrate our 20th Anniversary, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Marie, whose steady support and dedication over the years have been truly invaluable.
