On Monday, March 30, 2026, Representative Jim Himes (D-CT) and Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) visited Ambler Farm in Wilton, Connecticut. Both share an interest in sustainable farming and maple sugaring. In fact, Himes is an enthusiastic beekeeper with hives at his Connecticut home. It seemed only fitting to check out how these practices were being done in their home state.
Himes and Blumenthal toured the Farm, stopping at the Sugar Shack where the evaporator has been working overtime boiling down all of the sap collected with the community’s help this winter.
Ambler Farm’s Executive Director Ashley Kineon and Program Director Kevin Meehan were on tap to provide insight into Ambler Farm’s maple sugaring operation and other educational programming. They were joined by Friends of Ambler Farm President Patti Temple, as well as Jonathan Kirschner, Director of Agriculture, who discussed the Farm’s agricultural practices. Kineon also shared Ambler Farm’s history, current activities, plans for the renovation of the Raymond-Ambler House, and thanked Himes and Blumenthal for their support of various efforts that continue to further the farm’s mission.
