Volunteer Spotlight

October 21, 2026

Kate McInerney

Since moving to Wilton in 2020, Ambler Farm has been a big part of Kate’s family’s life. She says, “During the pandemic we would spend a lot of time visiting the farm and the animals and enjoying the farmer’s market,” getting to know the other volunteers. Kate notes, “I always say they were our first friends in Wilton. As things opened up, both of our sons started to enjoy the different classes and camps in a way that feels like they grew up/are growing up at the farm.”

Kate began volunteering with Farmer Jonathan in the production gardens. An avid cook and baker, Kate was most recently the co-chair of the Sweets & Treats tent at Ambler Farm Day. She says, “It was such a special opportunity to participate and see our lovely community in Wilton enjoying all the farm has to offer.”

Kate adds, “I really love getting to spend time in the greenhouses and gardens. It’s really quite magical what the small farm crew is able to accomplish. It’s beyond peaceful and all of the people who work there or volunteer are kind and welcoming. It’s a place that I sincerely love and it’s nice to be able to offer time to a place so dear to my children and be able to show them how our family builds community. I always feel that I get as much back from the farm as I give – I can’t imagine my life without  it!”

Many thanks to Kate for jumping in and lending her creativity and a much needed hand at Ambler Farm!
