The family that volunteers together, grows together. The Czarnecki family’s connection to Ambler Farm began in 2018, when Camryn joined the Apprentice Program as a 5th grader. Her participation in the program quickly evolved into a family commitment, with each member supporting the Farm in unique and generous ways – as members, participants, and dedicated volunteers.
Camryn, a 2025 recipient of the Raymond Ambler Award, has grown from an eager apprentice into a skilled mentor, builder, and summer camp counselor. From rebuilding apprentice gardens to leading young campers and participating in the high school sugaring program, she has helped good things grow for eight years. Whether working with animals, wielding a drill, or speaking publicly in support of the bonding resolution for the Raymond Ambler House, Camryn continues to represent the very heart of Ambler Farm’s mission.
Caryn has become a familiar face at the annual Greens Sale year after year. What began as a way to connect with her daughter’s interests has grown into her own meaningful relationship with the Farm and its community. Her friendships with fellow apprentice parents, combined with her belief in the Farm’s mission, have led her to take on a new role as a member of the 20th Anniversary Gala Committee, helping plan our first gala in a decade.
Kevin has held a wide range of volunteer roles at the Farm. As a firefighter for 30 years, it seemed only appropriate for Captain Czarnecki to cool down from his hot career by taking the plunge (well, several) in the celebrity dunk tank at Ambler Farm Day. He also shares his professional expertise with young campers, bringing fire equipment and stories to life during summer camp (fittingly, this year’s wooden fire truck project will be a special nod to his visits). The family even chose to celebrate Kevin’s retirement at Ambler Farm, a reflection of how deeply the Farm is woven into their lives.
The Czarneckis exemplify what happens when a child finds a place to grow, and her family chooses to grow right alongside her. Their story is one of shared purpose, community spirit, and a genuine love for the land and the people who make it thrive.
From Caryn and Kevin: “Ambler’s slogan of Where Good Things Grow definitely rings true for our family. It has been a joy watching our daughter over the past eight years be a part of Ambler Farm in several different capacities. All of her experiences have been instrumental in how she has become a hardworking, kind, mature and personable young adult. As parents, the opportunities to volunteer whenever possible gave us the chance to watch this growth and make wonderful family memories together.”
From Camryn: “My favorite part of Ambler Farm is how my work there has given me confidence and leadership skills. I have used these skills at and away from the farm and will continue to use them throughout my life. It has also shown me that I have more capability than I ever thought I’d have.”
